Matthew Friesen

Matthew graduated from STMC in 1989, and had two brothers that also attended STMC. He has three boys, Alex (Class of 2014), Niklas (Class of 2016) and Tate (Class of 2020). He graduated from BCIT in Finance, winning the Wolverton Securities award for the Best Overall Achievement in the Faculty of Finance and also attended UBC in Political Science. Having grown up in Burnaby, he currently resides in Yaletown. From 1999 till 2009, he owned and operated an injection moulding plastics plant in Surrey with 300 employees, which was the largest injection moulding plastics company in British Columbia. The business was sold to a New York private equity in 2009. Matt currently is a private investor, turnaround specialist, works with IPO ventures and owns shares in several private and public companies. Matthew also sits on the Foundation Board of Fraser Academy in Vancouver, which educates students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences and is a regular contributor to the Union Gospel Mission, on the Downtown Eastside
