Japanese Student Visitation

  • Friday, February 17th, 2017

On February 17, 2017, STMC students will be hosting 60 students from Hosho Jr School in Japan.  This event is a cultural highlight for our students and a fundraising highlight for our bursary program.  This is the first year that Hosho Jr will visit STMC.  They have chosen to visit our school based on the wonderful experiences other Japanese schools have had here.

The day begins with a welcoming ceremony and cultural presentation.  We then create buddy pairs, one Hosho Jr student with one STMC student.  They go on a school tour and attend classes with their buddy.  During lunch, students share cultural artifacts, stories and many laughs.

The end of the day always comes too soon and it is clear that friendships have been formed.  At the goodbye ceremony, we present our new Japanese friends with a certificate honouring them as members of our community.
