Principal's Message for June

As we approach the conclusion of the 2016-17 school year our thoughts and prayers are with the STMC community in a very special way. In particular, we want to pray for our Gr. 12 students who are concluding their time with us and that they complete the year off on a strong and safe note. We pray for our remaining students, as they prepare for the upcoming exams, that the Holy Spirit provides them with the comfort and confidence to do their best. We pray for our staff, and Board of Directors, particularly those who leaving our community, that God bless them with good health and guide them in their future endeavors. We pray in thanksgiving for the return of both Mr. Steele and Mrs Balouchi and continue to keep in our prayers a return to full health for Mr. Kully.

With regards to staffing for next year, I first want to acknowledge in a special way the staff who are leaving STMC and not only thank them for their service, dedication and commitment to our faith and learning community but to wish them all of God’s blessings.

  • Bro. Ted Basset – currently part-time IT teacher who, after decades of stellar teaching at STMC, is retiring.
  • Mr. Mark Bradshaw – Communications Manager – will be stepping down to take up a master's at the University of Edinburgh.
  •  Mr. Doug Corbett – who taught in our PE Dept as well doing an outstanding job coaching our Wrestling and Sr. Girls soccer team – will be taking a one year leave of absence.
  • Ms. Julia Webber – current VP, director of our mainstage drama production and senior drama teacher – will be on maternity leave.
  • Ms. Maggie Soares – who taught PE / Social Studies, along with coaching volleyball, soccer and basketball – will be on maternity leave.

We thank all those who serve our community so unselfishly and faithfully.

We welcome back to our community, Mr. Ron Orser who, in addition to his teaching duties, will resume his role as Vice Principal.

We are currently in the process of interviewing and selecting  candidates for the one year PE / Science positions and will inform the STMC community once we have made our decision.

Report Cards will be mailed during the last week of June. Please communicate directly with your son or daughter’s teachers or the appropriate Vice Principal – Mr. Steele ( Gr. 11-12) or Ms. Webber (Gr. 8-10) – if they are at risk of failing a course.

Yearbooks will be distributed to our Gr. 8 -11 students during exams while the Gr. 12 students will receive their copy during the Grad Breakfast on June 22, 2017. Please be advised that if comes to our attention that any student has written an inappropriate comment in someone’s Yearbook they will have their Yearbook confiscated.
