Welcoming STMC's New Principal - Mr. Steve Garland
Today, with great excitement, we welcome Mr. Steve Garland to his role as STMC's 12th Principal.
Mr. Garland is an exceptional 21st century pedagogical and relational leader who is poised to inspire the STMC community and support our vision that students make a positive contribution to the Earth and its people.
He brings to this new role more than 20 years experience as principal and vice-principal in the North Vancouver and Coquitlam public school districts and Dean of Academics at Collingwood. He has coached soccer and basketball throughout his teaching career.
Mr. Garland is poised and ready to lead St. Thomas More Collegiate's senior educational leadership team working to implement strategies and initiatives that are supportive of the school's mission, vision, and values. As a faith-filled Catholic, he will continue the great work of so many before him who have been inspired by the example of Blessed Edmund Rice.
Throughout September, there will be a number of opportunities for the STMC community to meet Mr. Garland. He will be cheering for our Knights at the STMC Homecoming on Saturday, September 9 (the first time in a number of years our Homecoming game will be played at home); leading the New Parents Meeting the evening of Wednesday, September 13; installed as the new principal at his Installation Mass on Friday, September 15; and making a formal presentation to the STMC Community at our fall meeting on Tuesday, September 26.
Please join me in warmly welcoming Mr. Steve Garland to the STMC family.
Live, Jesus, in our hearts ... forever.
Mrs. Neysa Finnie
