Volunteers Needed!

Parent Teacher Night is also great volunteer opportunity for both parents and students. For parents who volunteer, this is a great opportunity to mingle with other parents.  For students who volunteer, it is a great way to accumulate service hours and also have fun with your peers - if you do both shifts, you get 10 services hours for 8 hours of work.

Instructions for Volunteers

  • Parents: Please wear your "Red Brigade" t-shirt (If you don't have one yet, contact Kathlene Gastaldo at gkgastaldo@shaw.ca). Also, IMPORTANT: please arrive a few minutes before your shift, to sign up for the teachers you wish to see first.
  • Students: Please come in uniform.
  • All: Report to the cafeteria for room and teacher assignments.  You will be assigned a classroom and given the interview schedule for that teacher.  You will sit outside the classroom with the interview schedule and check parents in.  You simply call the parents when it is time for their interview to start, then time their interviews.  One minute before the time is up, knock on the door to remind the teacher.  At the start of the next appointment time, call the next name on your appointment sheet.
  • Parents Arriving Late: Sometimes parents will arrive late for their interview.  If this happens, hold their time slot (do not start the next appointment early - keep the original schedule).  If the scheduled parent arrives less than 5 minutes late, just shorten their appointment time to end at the originally scheduled time.  If the parent is more than 5 minutes late, take their name and phone number, so that the teacher can call to schedule another day and time to talk with them.  Parents more than 5 minutes late will miss their Interview Appointment that day.
