STUDENT LIFE

Intramural Soccer is on the horizon. Senior (gr.10-12) and Junior (gr.8-9) brackets will be held with teams representing their houses in each. A mix of grades making teams to represent their houses will compete. Sign up forms will be sent out Wednesday, during advisory next week.

Speaking of which, next week is our Halloween themed advisory. Pumpkin Carving, Halloween themed riddles, scavenger hunt and more fun to be had competing for House points!

GOOD SHEPHERD MINISTRY CANDY DRIVE

Beginning next week, we will be collecting candy for the Good Shepherd Ministry. The Good Shepherd Ministry is one of the ministries that our students support in the Downtown East Side of Vancouver. Student volunteers and staff hand our candy bags, gloves, socks and prayer cards Tuesday evenings. We are in need of candy to put together packages.

Candy can be dropped off outside the Campus Ministry office in the Multi-Purpose room.

Any grade 11-12 students and/or parents who are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Mattiazzo.

CANSAT

There will be a meeting on Wednesday at lunch in room 214 (Physics Lab) for anyone interested in joining the CanSat teams. We are expecting to have beginner and advanced teams again this year.

No experience needed!

FOOTBALL

The Grade 8 Knights captured a win in their first regular season game, beating Heritage Park. They face off against Lord Tweedsmuir this Tuesday on their home field at 3:30pm.

The JV and Varsity Knights both took care of Centennials JV and Varsity teams respectively. They both face Terry Fox next week. JV will go Thursday at 3:30 at TFSS. The Seniors will face-off against the senior Ravens at our SENIORS’ night on Friday 7:30pm at Burnaby Lake Field! This is the last home regular season game for the Knights.

Please come out and support your Knights as we celebrate the Seniors for their contributions to the football program throughout their STMC career!

SUN RUN WITH STMC

St. Thomas More has a SUN RUN team! Race Day – Sunday, April 21, 2024

We are excited to announce that St. Thomas More will have a Sun Run team again this year. Come out and participate with your friends and family. There is a 2.5km or the 10km course. If you register before Oct. 31, you qualify for the cheapest price category. ($22 for youth; $35 for adults)

Before registering, please note the following:

  1. STMC is NOT responsible for student supervision or transportation during the Sun Run
  2. STMC may offer some training resources, such as a suggested plan to prepare for running 10km and may offer some scheduled practice runs. However, please note that runners are responsible for their own training.
  3. If we have less than 14 members on our team, the team will be disbanded and the members will be automatically moved into the Individual categories and you will be responsible for paying the upgrade fees
  4. Youth team technical shirts will have STMC Knights printed on the back; however, the Cotton shirts will NOT have a team name on the back due to a limited area of print size
  5. Parents and siblings are welcome to register as part of the Sun Run team, however, the number of youths must be greater than the number of adults on the team.

To register, please go to team member registration and select STMC Knights
*Be sure you are on the Oasis Youth Team Challenge (before adding your name and details)
