STUDENT LIFE

Students can come in their Halloween costumes to school on Tuesday, October 31. There will be prizes for best individual, best duo, and best group. Winners will win a prize and house points.

Student Council

Halloween Spirit Week Events are also being organized by Student Council. The events have been running since October 26 and will conclude on October 31.

BERT Team

The BERT team, led by Ayush Paul and Joaquin Santa Maria (gr. 10), will begin collecting Candy this week for the Good Shepherd Ministry. Students are encouraged to bring in Candy to support this cause. Candy can be dropped off in the bins below your house banner for House Points. Every second Tuesday STMC students and staff volunteer with the Good Shepherd Ministry, based out of the Door is Open in the Downtown Eastside. Student volunteers and staff hand over our candy bags, gloves, socks, and prayer cards Tuesday evenings.

Any grade 11-12 students and/or parents who are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Mattiazzo.

FAITH DEVELOPMENT

Every month, a special Pro-Life Mass & Prayer Vigil is organized by the Archdiocese of Vancouver at different parishes. This Saturday, November 4, it will be taking place at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, across the field from St. Thomas More Collegiate. All are welcome to attend.

For more information, you can reach the Archdiocese of Vancouver at 604-683-0281.

LEARNING COMMONS/ARTS

Mr. Walker is hosting a ‘spooky stories’ event in the Drama room for Halloween. Come and listen to stories, perform stories or even perform your own writing. Treats will be available!

The QR code on the flier will show a number of spooky stories students can read in advance to get ready to perform!

SUN RUN WITH STMC

St. Thomas More has a SUN RUN team! Race Day – Sunday, April 21, 2024

We are excited to announce that St. Thomas More will have a Sun Run team again this year. Come out and participate with your friends and family. There is a 2.5km or the 10km course. If you register before Oct. 31, you qualify for the cheapest price category. ($22 for youth; $35 for adults)

Before registering, please note the following:

  1. STMC is NOT responsible for student supervision or transportation during the Sun Run
  2. STMC may offer some training resources, such as a suggested plan to prepare for running 10km and may offer some scheduled practice runs. However, please note that runners are responsible for their own training.
  3. If we have less than 14 members on our team, the team will be disbanded and the members will be automatically moved into the Individual categories and you will be responsible for paying the upgrade fees
  4. Youth team technical shirts will have STMC Knights printed on the back; however, the Cotton shirts will NOT have a team name on the back due to a limited area of print size
  5. Parents and siblings are welcome to register as part of the Sun Run team, however, the number of youths must be greater than the number of adults on the team.

To register, please go to team member registration and select STMC Knights. Access Code: HHMLJD
*Be sure you are on the Oasis Youth Team Challenge (before adding your name and details)
Team Name: STMC Knights

After completing the registration, please complete Mrs. DeWith’s quick Google Form: Sun Run Google Form
