THANKSGIVING

Monday, October 9, is Thanksgiving, a statutory holiday where the school will be closed. It originated as a day to give thanks for the harvest and blessings of the past year. Today, it is a time to share festive meals with family and friends while expressing gratitude for all the good in our lives.

We wish students, staff, families, and parish communities all of God’s Blessings for a Happy Thanksgiving!

STUDENT LIFE

We had a very successful Club fair last week. There was a ton of interest in a lot of clubs. Be on the lookout for an email from Mr. Power for one final, extra day for clubs that were not ready in time for the club fair.

Also, keep an eye out for information regarding intramural sign-up in the next couple of weeks! This is the opportunity to compete against your classmates in friendly competition.

FOOTBALL

Our Grade 8’s played their first game action this week beating Holy Cross 21-20. They Face Heritage Woods at 3:30 PM next Tuesday at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex for their first regular season action.

Our JV’s lost a tight battle against South Delta, while our Varsity team avenged them 31-15. Both squads face Centennial. JV’s play Thursday 3:30 PM at Burnaby Lake, while the Varsity team faces the Centaurs at Centennial Field, 7pm Friday night.

LEARNING COMMONS

Do you enjoy books? Reading? Organizing?

Mrs. DeWith is looking for a few responsible students who are interested in earning service hours by assisting in the Library (for example, shelving books and organizing library shelves). If that interests you, please come and see Mrs. DeWith.

CAREER LIFE

Grade 11 and 12 students and parents are encouraged to go on to the Education Planner website. This is a great resource to search and plan for possible post-secondary options! (This is also the site where gr. 12 students will begin their applications to BC post-secondary institutions.)
