Christmas Break until January 8
Congrats to our Intramural soccer Champs: Limerick (Junior) & London/Waterford (Senior). There are points to be earned throughout next week’s Christmas spirit week! Stay tuned.
Spirit Week takes place on the last week of school for the calendar year. Here’s a look at what’s in store for next week:
Monday: Pajama Day & Elf on the Shelf
There will also be an Advisory door decoration competition (house points on the line!). Overall, it will be a spirit filled week to end off our 2023 year!
Please note that we will have a modified schedule for our Advent Mass on Thursday, December 21. We are happy to announce that Father Raffaele Salvino will be the celebrant on the day.
As Mass concludes, we will end the day with STMC’s annual tradition of Christmas caroling, led by a handful of teachers and staff.
MATERIALS ENGINEERING & DESIGN ENGINEERING
Can all students who have Mr. Bough in Materials Engineering and Design Engineering ensure they wear appropriate footwear.
Any soft, open toe item is not safe and will result in the student not being allowed in the class.
Many thanks – Mr. Bough
BE A CATALYST FOR CHANGE AT STMC!
Calling students, parents, alumni, and staff:
Do Truth & Reconciliation, Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, and/or Environmental Sustainability mean something to you? Maybe you work in the industry; perhaps one or more of these strikes a personal chord with you. If so, then YOU can be a part of the journey to support the STMC Administration and STMC Board to integrate the advancement and integration of these pillars into school decisions and priorities.
The 3 Pillar Advisory Committee (in no particular order, Truth & Reconciliation, JEDI+B, and Environmental Sustainability) is working towards making this vision a reality. If you have any experience or expertise any of these areas, we want to connect with you! Bring your passion, skills, and perspective to the table, and together we can create a positive impact that will propel the STMC community forward.

TOYS FOR KIDS DRIVE
Initially launched by St. Thomas More Collegiate alumni Miguel Ramos (’13) for his Planning 10 initiative, the toy drive has become a massive success for over 10 years. Thousands of dollars and toys have been donated for the Salvation Army, new immigrant families, the Mosaic Society, and local Burnaby schools. This year, our school will be expanding our toy drive, to help even more Burnaby schools with families in need. Our Senior BERT team will once again be delivering the toys to both the schools and family homes.
This year the Toy Drive will take place on Tuesday, December 19 from 7:00-8:30am in the STMC foyer. As an added competition, each of the six STMC Houses will be competing for points, so please drop off your toys to the table representing your house. Cash donations and gift cards are also accepted. Please note that students who provide a donation will be invited to a pancake breakfast in the cafeteria on the morning of December 19 until supplies last.
STMC FOUNDATION – DONATION UPDATE
We express our deepest appreciation for your continued thoughtfulness and generosity, which empowers us to fulfill our educational mission at St. Thomas More Collegiate. As the year-end approaches, we are delighted to share strategies that not only support our school but also offer potential tax benefits. Donating to St. Thomas More before December 31st allows you to contribute to a cause you believe in, providing a valuable tax deduction on your upcoming tax return.
Tax Deductibility: Contributions to the STMC Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Your generosity can make a meaningful impact on our initiatives while offering potential tax benefits. Visit supportknights.ca to make a gift today.
