Paul Orogo put STMC on the map earning a provincial gold medal in 3 individual events: 50 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, and 100 Butterfly. He placed 4th overall in the 200 Individual Medley. 4 is the maximum number events swimmers were permitted to enter at the zone meet to qualify for provincials.
If you’re familiar with swimming, this kind of performance shows immense versatility (these 4 events are quite different) and mental toughness to do them all in the same day!
Our STMC relays had great races also! The girls 200 Medley Relay team of Ava Butzelaar, Tia Butzelaar, Hayley Tang, and Giselle Macaranas qualified through Friday’s preliminary race to swim in the finals on Saturday. The relay had a season best time and placed 15th in the province.
The girls 200 Freestyle relay team of Desiree Wai, Luciana Cajigas, Ava Butzelaar, and Mariana Cajigas had a great swim and just missed qualifying for Saturday’s final round.
