The Fallen Knights Bursary Endowment Fund has been established at STMC to honour the memory of Knights who have passed away.

The creation of the Fallen Knights Bursary Endowment Fund was inspired by the 2013 passing of a 1989 alumnus, Travers Naran, due to cancer. Travers, who towered over all his peers at more than six feet tall in Grade 8, was a well-loved classmate and is remembered for his gentle demeanor and sense of humour.

Upon learning the sad news, the Class of ’89, led by Brent Christensen, Matt Friesen and Dale Bosa came together at their 25th reunion and raised $10,000 toward a fund in memory of Travers Naran. On behalf of the Class of ’89 and in consultation with Travers’ mother, Mrs. Winnie Naran – who also gave generously to the fund – Brent and Matt worked with the school to establish a bursary fund that will not only honour the memory of Travers, but also the memory of all STMC Knights who pass away.

The bursary helps those who most need it: families who otherwise could not afford an STMC education for their children due to economic reasons.

Winnie Naran passed away in July 2019.  STMC and the STMC Alumni Association were honoured that Winnie had attended the GKO annual golf tournament in June 2019 where she was recognized for her vision and support in the establishment of the Fallen Knights Bursary.  With her passing, family and friends are invited in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the Travers Naran Fallen Knights Bursary.

L-R: Brent Christensen, Matt Friesen, and Winnie Naran
