The varsity girls soccer team won the 2019 Catholics soccer tournament. The team defeated Holy Cross 1-0, St. Jean Brebeuf 5-0, and St Ann’s 5-0, before playing to a 0-0 tie with Archbishop Carney. This put the Knights in the final versus St. Thomas Aquinas where a scrappy hard fought game was played. After another 0-0 tie, including overtime, the game went into penalty shots where STMC prevailed. Kaya Crescenzo was the tournament leading scorer with 5 goals, Sienna Mastromonaco and Sara Smyth were named to the all-star team, and Cassia Di Girolamo was selected tournament MVP.  All the grade 12’s were terrific, especially Gabby Bellini and Lauren Cadiente.

The grade 8 football team fell just short of winning the provincial title Saturday morning at BC Place, losing 26-20 to VC. After getting off to a blazing start, the team fell behind by a few a touchdowns before coming back and having a chance to win it on the final drive. This group has a very bright future ahead of them and we look forward to seeing their progress through the next four seasons of Knights football.

The varsity volleyball team capped off a terrific weekend of action at the AA Provincial tournament Saturday night by defeating MEI to win a bronze medal. The team was led by provincial allstars Lauren Boddington Sienna Mastromonaco, and fellow grade 12’s Mia Malinowski and Francesca Sandini. The future looks bright for the Knights as the team has many talented grade 10 and 11’s that made significant contributions during the tournament.

The Varsity Volleyball team captured the BC Catholics title at Notre Dame. Led by tournament MVP Sienna Mastromonaco and allstar Francesca Sandini, the Knights won a thrilling final match vs LFA 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 16-14). The title was the Knights second in a row and third in four years. Next up are the league playoffs November 5th-8th and the Lower Mainland tournament November 14th and 16th.
