Back-to-School Update: Key Info & Details

We hope that everyone has had a restful and enjoyable summer!

Here at the STMC, our administrative team, teachers, maintenance, and front office staff are currently getting everything ready for the return of our school community next week. We would like to take this opportunity to update families regarding some important dates and pieces of information.

Calendar & Important School Start Up Dates

As the year begins, we are encouraging all of our faculty, students, and families to utilize our updated school website calendar as the main resource for dates, schedules, and announcements for the school year. Please go to https://stthomasmorecollegiate.ca/ for more information.

Tuesday, September 2, 2025:
New Student Orientation Days (Returning students are not required to attend school on this day)

Incoming Grade 8 Students:

Check-In: 9:30 – 10 am
Start: 10:00 – 1:00 pm
Location: STMC Gym

Details: 

• Students are encouraged to wear Red Day attire.
• Students will receive their schedules and other importnat information this day.

New Grade 9-12 Students:

New Student Orientation: 8:30 am – 9:30 am
Location: library learning commons

Details: 

• Students are encouraged to wear summer casual attire.
• Students will receive their schedules this day.
• Students will receive their Chromebooks this day.

Cell Phone Use at STMC

During school hours, all students are required to keep their cell phones out of sight and off unless use is specifically authorized by the teacher in charge for educational relevant purposes only. 

Students are strongly encouraged to lock their cell phones in their assigned locker to avoid misuse and theft. Teachers are permitted to require students to put away or store their cell phones in bags or in communal class cell phone holders.

Lockers for 2025-2026

Students’ locker numbers are on top of their PDF schedules that will be sent separately today from our system.

Keeping personal belongings and valuables locked up is the best way to combat theft. Keeping classrooms and hallways clear of bags will help keep walking and emergency pathways clear to ensure student and staff safety. Families are asked to ensure all students have 2 locks: one for their school locker and one for their gym locker to be used for PHE classes and athletic practices.

PHE Online Store

The STMC PHE Online Store for athletic wear and dress code for Fall 2025 items is now open! Families can order official Knights gear and school-approved apparel. The store will remain open until September 15, 2025.

Be sure to place your order before the deadline and get ready to start the year in Knights style!

Please note, to meet delivery timelines, late orders cannot be accepted and that all purchases will be processed together after the store closes, not at the time of checkout.

Grad BBQ

Hello Grads and Parents,

Reminder that we’re kicking off your grad year with the very first celebration — our Country vs. Country Club BBQ on Tuesday, September 2nd from 4–7 PM! This event is just for grads, so come ready for great food, fun, and the chance to celebrate together as the Class of 2026.

A huge shout-out to our parent volunteers! We couldn’t do this without you. Please take a look at the schedule linked below to see your shift time. Volunteers can check in at the cafeteria or courtyard when it’s their time to help.

Homecoming: STMC vs ND

Homecoming is happening on Saturday, September 6th!

This will be a cashless event. Tickets can be purchased for $5 at the main gate.

The first game up is Senior Girls Volleyball. The STMC Knights will face off against ND Jugglers at 12 PM. This will the be followed by the main event of the day with kick-off at 1:30 PM.

The event is rain or shine, so make sure to dress appropriately for the weather!

Bring your most comfortable lounging chairs!

Picture Day

Tuesday, September 23rd is Picture Day at STMC. All students are reminded to be in full school uniform and ready for their photos. These pictures will be used for student IDs and the yearbook, so don’t miss it!
