June 2025
Week of June 23-29
The 2024–25 school year has officially come to a close, and with it, our final edition of the Knightly News. Thank you for following along each week. Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to reconnecting in the fall!
Congratulations Grads of 2025!
Congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone! As you close this chapter of your journey at STMC, know that you carry with you the strength, values, and spirit of a Knight.
Your resilience, growth, and commitment have left a lasting mark on our school community. We are proud of who you’ve become and excited for all that lies ahead. Wherever your path takes you—university, travel, work, or new adventures—go forward with confidence, integrity, and faith.
Once a Knight, always a Knight.
Wishing you every success and blessing in this next chapter.
Access to School during Summer
As we enter the summer season, we want to wish all our families a joyful, restful, and safe summer season. May the slower pace of summer offer moments of connection, reflection, and gratitude for God’s many blessings. Whether you’re traveling, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying some well-deserved downtime, we hope it’s filled with fun and renewal.
Summer Schedule – Accessing to the School
IMPORTANT:
- With the exception of calendared Sports Camps, our JumpStart program, or for scheduled appointments our school will be completely closed on Fridays from July 3-August 15, 2025.
- The School Office will be open Monday-Thursday from 8AM-3PM. *Closed for Lunch from 12Noon-1pm.
- All members of the School Operations Team (P&VPs, Counselors, Teachers) will be away and unavailable until their return in late August.
- Bottom line… Phone Ahead! If you need to visit the school for any reason during the summer, we kindly ask that you phone in advance to schedule an appointment (604-521-1800).
This quieter period allows our hardworking maintenance team and support staff the opportunity to refresh and care for our campus—so it’s ready to welcome students and staff in the fall.
Thank you for your understanding, and for partnering with us in keeping our school a safe and welcoming place for all.
Lapu Lapu Parent Support Night
The Archdiocese of Vancouver’s Mental Health Ministry is hosting a special evening for parents on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, both in-person at St. Patrick’s Regional Secondary School (115 East 11th Avenue, Vancouver) and online via Zoom.
In response to the recent tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival, the event will offer faith-centered approaches to navigating trauma and supporting family healing during the summer months. Guest speakers include Father Bryan Duggan and Trixie Cruz, a school counsellor from Vancouver College.
STMC Summer Camps
We are excited to share that we are offering a series of sports camps hosted here at St. Thomas More Collegiate this summer.
These camps are open to STMC families as well as students from our local communities. The camps are designed for elementary-aged students and will be led by experienced coaches, student-athletes, and staff. It’s a great opportunity for younger students to get to know STMC student-athletes, to learn new skills, and stay active during the summer break.
We invite you all to share this information with family, friends and community members!
Please see the link to more information about our sports camps HERE. For more information about specific camps, please feel free to contact the coaches directly. Contact details for each camp can be found in the registration information.
Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Thank you!

Mikey’s Run
In honour of STMC Class of ’07 Grad Mike Lowe who we sadly lost last June, we encourage you to take part in Mikey’s Run. This event happens on June 29th, 2025 at the Burnaby Lake Rugby Fields.
Mike was a devoted father, son, brother, husband, friend, and a proud STMC Alum. This run is more than a tribute to Mike’s love of running – it’s a call to action. Let’s honour his legacy by creating space for openness, connection, and support. Volunteers and/or runners are encouraged to sign up through the website, Mikey’s Run.

We’re excited to welcome our incoming students to the Jump Start Summer Program, running from July 2–11, 2025, at St. Thomas More Collegiate. Taking place each weekday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the program is designed to ease the transition into high school by helping students build connections with peers and STMC staff through engaging activities rooted in the Knights Cross.
Highlights include team-building sessions and a full-day field trip to Playland. We look forward to a fun and meaningful start to their STMC journey!

We are back inside our StanJean Gymnasium this year! As a vendor you can expect a cozy Christmas setting with free coffee, stand-in volunteers for those bathroom breaks, and marketing!
St. Thomas More Collegiate’s Christmas Craft Fair is one of lore amongst those lucky enough to be a part of. It has always brought together our communities in a fun and seasonal way and we are very excited to continue this tradition.
