Meet the Teacher Night
We are excited to invite your family to our upcoming Meet the Teacher Night on Oct 17, 2024. This evening is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our staff, hear from an expert in child development, and engage in sessions with our teaching faculty that will give you insight into your child’s classes, co-curricular opportunities, and other facets of our STMC community.
We are asking that families select three sessions to attend after the keynote by Dr. Deborah MacNamara. Families will need to prioritize which sessions they attend as there is not enough time to meet all of their child’s teachers. This survey is FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. Responses made on this form do not limit attendance on the actual Meet the Teacher Night. Fill out the Google Form here.
Event Schedule:
- 5:00-5:45 pm – Social Reception
Meet faculty and other parents and enjoy refreshments before the program begins. - 5:45-6:45 pm – Keynote: Dr. Deborah MacNamara
Dr. MacNamara will deliver a special talk geared towards parents specifically focused on adolescent development. Find out more about Dr. MacNamara on her website: macnamara.ca - 6:55-7:15 pm – Session 1
- 7:20-7:40 pm – Session 2
- 7:45-8:05 pm – Session 3
Parents will have the option to attend three different sessions to learn more about various topics. These topics will range from meeting classroom teachers and learning more about what’s happening in those classes, learning more about various co-curricular programs, academic and personal counselling etc. (More information about these sessions will be sent closer to the date).
We hope you can join us for this informative and engaging evening specifically for our families.
Stay tuned for further details on session topics!

Drama: Call for Student Directors
The drama department is looking for student directors to lead this year’s one-act festival production that will happen during the week of March 9th-15th. As a student director, you will have the opportunity to select a short one-act play (20 mins approx.), cast actors, and oversee the creative elements of the performance.
Specific responsibilities include:
– Selecting an appropriate one-act play script
– Holding auditions and casting actors
– Leading rehearsals and providing direction to the cast
– Collaborating with the technical crew on set design, props, costume, lighting, and sound
– Attending production meetings and communicating with the faculty director
– Guiding the artistic vision for the performance
This is an excellent leadership opportunity for students interested in theatre production and directing. We are mainly looking for Grade 11-12 students who have had experience in acting in previous STMC drama productions.
If you are passionate about directing and want to gain hands-on experience, we encourage you to apply.
Please contact the drama department () if you are interested in serving as a student director for the one-act festival.
