Care for Creation: Clothing Drive

As part of our monthly Catholic Social Teaching focus on Care for Creation, the Blessed Edmund Rice Team is running a clothing drive with a twofold mission — to recycle responsibly and support those in need.

Up until October 31, we are collecting adult clothing to be donated to The Door is Open and the Men’s Shelter, both operated by the Archdiocese of Vancouver. Ideal items include jackets, warm sweaters, other cold-weather clothing, toiletries, socks, and gloves to be distributed directly to those in need.

Students are encouraged to bring donations to their House bins located in the front foyer. House points will be awarded for all contributions!

Let’s come together as a community to care for creation and for our brothers and sisters in need.

Inaugural Halloween Bash

Halloween is almost here, and our Halloween Bash is shaping up to be spooktacular! You can help make it even better for our Grade 12 grads by joining our 50/50 raffle. Half the prize goes to one lucky winner, and the other half directly supports grad activities.

Buy your Halloween Bash tickets and 50/50 raffle tickets here: https://trellis.org/stmchalloweenbash

You don’t need to be present to win! Every ticket counts — and please feel free to share this link with coworkers, friends, and STMC alumni to help grow the prize and support our grads even more.

Draw Date: October 25, 2025 at 9:00 PM PDT

Thank you for your support,
Grad Committee

Photo Retakes

Missed photo day, forgot about it, or just had a bad hair day? Photo re-takes are happening on Monday Oct 27. Artona will be in the school and prepared to start retakes at 9:15 am.

Any students who would like a re-take must bring their ID card from photo day.

Postsecondary and Scholarship Application Workshops

Mrs. DeWith will be hosting lunch workshops in the Learning Commons for gr. 12 students. Come to review the suggestions from various universities/colleges on how to write your paragraph responses and how these are evaluated. See Gr. 12 Career Life Google Classroom for more details.

Dates:
Tuesday, Oct. 21
Monday, Oct. 27

Post-Secondary Night

All Grade 10-12 students and their parents are invited to the Post-Secondary Night at STMC on December 1 (7:00-8:30pm). Parents and students have the opportunity to visit the sessions for the schools they might be interested in and then talk with recruiters at the fair in the cafeteria. It is a great step in this ‘shopping process’ when exploring options for post-secondary.

March to Mercer

This Halloween, STMC will host its first-ever March to Mercer! Students, alumni, parents, and staff are invited to join together as we march from STMC to Mercer Stadium to cheer on our Varsity Knights Football as they take on New Westminster Secondary.

Before the march, everyone is welcome to a barbecue at STMC to fuel up and get ready for the excitement. Tickets cost $13. Participants are to wear their RED DAY ATTIRE and bring their school spirit to support the team. The March to Mercer will run from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with kickoff at 6:00 PM at Mercer Stadium.

BC Youth Parliament Opportunity

BCYP is a youth organization with the motto “youth serving youth,” as well as a non-profit and non-partisan organization. Our members fulfill our values through individual and group service projects for the duration of the Sessional year to serve the British Columbia youth and the greater community. Visit our website BCYP.org for more info.

As part of session, from December 27-31, 97 youths of ages 16-21 from all around BC will gather at the Legislative Assembly in Victoria for a simulation of Parliament. During the session, bills that govern BCYP’s community service projects for the rest of the Sessional year are legislated. By being a part of BCYP, members have the opportunity to hear from prominent speakers, learn parliamentary education, meet youth from around the province, and partake in exciting social events.

We are looking for service-oriented, hard-working, and passionate youth to join our organization. If you know someone who may be interested, please direct them to our website, bcyp.org/apply for application details.

Drama Production

The STMC Drama Production presents you with The Play That Goes Wrong by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields! The story is a slapstick comedy that follows a topsy turvy theatre troupe dealing with a murder mystery, where the ill-fated, drama-loving goons encounter numerous mishaps.

You can read the play HERE.

Auditions will take place in the Drama Room (223) on the following dates at LUNCH: November 13th and 14th. There is no need to memorize lines for the audition. You will be given scenes from the play during the audition to act on the spot. No prior theatre performance or experience is required to audition!

The audition results will be announced with Google Classroom and Remind App invites via email by November 19.

Please use the following Google Classroom Code to keep up to date: zwin4t3k
