Lenten Journey: Living Jesus in Our Hearts Throughout Life

By February 13, 2025Advocacy & Action, Events, News

STMC Families & Friends,

Our Lenten Journey, Living Jesus in Our Hearts Throughout Life, kicks-off next week when we return from the Family Day long weekend. This 8-week campaign will see us focus our attention on the reverence for all life – all of God’s creations.

While we are planning a number of initiatives to help highlight each of the themes, we would dearly love to see our parents and the broader STMC community participate in this campaign.

Whether it is a commitment to making the weekly themes a focus of family dinner table or car-ride conversations, or involves a more personal pledge to commit to actions that tangibly express your love and support for your daughter/son as they themselves contemplate what it means to live out their faith… it matters not! We simply hope that these themes will serve to spur on some wonderful conversations and actions – here at the school and at home – that put the spotlight on the miracle that is life and our call to live out the Gospel Values.

Before the start of each new theme/week, we will send out a quick email to our STMC families providing some suggestions for how you can participate at home.

Week 1: The Gift of Life [February 18-21, 2025]
Focus: Honouring the sanctity and miracle of life and the love of family

  • Talk with your daughter/son about their first day(s) of life
  • What their arrival meant to you as a new parent (hopes/dreams, worries/fears… for BOTH of you)
  • Sit with them and go through their “Baby Book”. Show them your favourite photos of them and tell them why they are your favourites
  • Remind them (again) about their many milestones – their many firsts (words, steps, tooth, day of preschool, etc. J)
  • Perhaps put a note or an image in their lunch/backpack each day throughout the week to remind them of the gift that they are

This first week of our Lenten Journey is a chance for them to learn more about what the miracle of their life means to so many others that are in it!

We hope that it is a week chock-full of smiles, laughs, tears of joy, and the emotions of the heart.

May we all come to learn what it means to Live Jesus in our Hearts, truly!

Yours in Christ through Mary & Joseph,
STMC’s Mission Integration Committee
