“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” — John 11:25
With hearts full of both sorrow and Easter hope, we mourn the passing of Pope Francis, a shepherd who walked closely with the poor, the vulnerable, and all those on the margins. His deep compassion, prophetic voice, and tireless witness to mercy have left an indelible mark on the Church and the world.
As Edmund Rice Christian Brother schools, we give thanks for the life and papacy of a man who reminded us—again and again—that “realities are more important than ideas,” and that love must be lived in concrete acts of justice, inclusion, and peace.
In this Easter season, we cling to the promise of the Resurrection. May Pope Francis now rejoice in the fullness of Christ’s glory, and may we honor his legacy by walking more boldly in the light of the Gospel.
Requiescat in pace, Holy Father. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Special thanks to Dr. Cris Ritchie-Bonomo for sharing these beautiful words and reminding our STMC community of the deep and lasting impact Pope Francis had on the world.
