Pet & Friends

This week marks the Holy Week and the seventh week in STMC’s Lenten Journey. Holy Week encourages us to pause and reflect on the death of Jesus and the gift of eternal life through Jesus; our Lenten Journey gives us time and space to grieve the death of loved ones and honour their move to their heavenly home.

As part of our Lenten Journey, the Learning Commons is hosting two therapy dogs and their owners through Pet and Friends on Monday, April 14 from 12:30-1:30. Students are invited to come and sign up in the Learning Commons for a 10 minute slot.

Career Life

The Career Life Course at STMC builds the skills needed to guide students in their journey of becoming who they want to be in the world and to prepare them for purposeful career-life development.

In Career Life Explorations, grade 10 students have learned the skills needed to prepare a cover letter and resume and will now move to the next step: the interview. On Wednesday, April 16, all grade 10 students will meet with staff or alumni in a mock interview setting. Students are asked to dress in business casual and have a printed copy of their resume.

Mr. Kyle O’Genski will present to the grade 12 students on the importance of networking, personal branding and LinkedIn. Grade 12 students are encouraged to sign up for a 5 minute photo shoot with the Media Team for a professional LinkedIn photo. As this is a professional photo, it is suggested to wear business attire on the top (blazer or a dress shirt or a dress shirt & tie).

Walkathon 2025

We are approximatey two weeks out from our Walkathon fundraiser! We are off to an amazing start as we are currently at 21% of our goal with 26 of our students and their families contributing – thank you! Every single contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. With over 700 students in the school, there’s so much potential to reach our goal!

Thank you so much to our top fundraisers so far!

Incoln Chan – $1100
Grace Haffner – $1000
Nathaniel Blanca – $810
Wyatt Kully – $600
Sophie Chan – $585

Here’s how you can support:

1) Donate or share the fundraising link on your social media accounts: www.tinyurl.com/stmcwalks25
2) Spread the word with your family, friends and communities whether it’s your parishes and weekend extracurricular activities!

We are looking to raise $40,000 this year in order to fund a few student-driven initiatives that will contribute to student life and school spirit.

These initiatives include:

a) new and fixed drinking fountains throughout the school
b) seating for the front foyer
c) speaker system for our multipurpose room and fitness centre

Thank you for all your continued support!

Lenten Journey Reflections

The theme for our Living Jesus in our Hearts Throughout Life initiative for this week is: Death: Dying & Eternal Life. We are invited to reflect on the dignity of both life and death.

For each person, this theme may resonate in a unique yet deeply personal way. It might invite you to consider how you cherish each moment of life. For others, it could mean reflecting on how we honour the elderly and those nearing the end of their journey. And for some, it may be an invitation to release the fear of death and embrace the promise of eternal life.

This week’s reflection is: What does the dignity of life mean to me? How can I show this?

We encourage you to take a brief moment to have a short conversation about this—whether with a sibling, friend, child, parent, or as a family—during dinner, on the ride home from school, or whenever you find a quiet moment together.

We would love to hear about the discussions that take place. If you could take a couple minutes to submit your reflection and be part of this shared experience of faith. These reflections not only deepen your own journey but also inspire and uplift our community.

Mikey’s Run

In honour of STMC Class of ’07 Grad Mike Lowe who we sadly lost last June, we encourage you to take part in Mikey’s Run. This event happens on June 29th, 2025 at the Burnaby Lake Rugby Fields.

Mike was a devoted father, son, brother, husband, friend, and a proud STMC Alum. This run is more than a tribute to Mike’s love of running – it’s a call to action. Let’s honour his legacy by creating space for openness, connection, and support. Volunteers and/or runners are encouraged to sign up through the website, Mikey’s Run.
