Spring Break begins! There will be no classes from Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 27, providing students and staff with a welcome pause from the routine of the school day, allowing everyone to take a deep breath, catch up, and/or prepare for the final stretch of the school year.

We hope this time offers an opportunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and return refreshed for the final stretch of the school year. Classes will resume on Monday, March 30, and we look forward to seeing everyone back.

Parent Participation Program: Lead & Coordinator positions now available

We’d like to thank you all once again for your support as the Parent Participation Program continues to roll. We are grateful for your feedback, ideas, and suggestions that you’ve shared. Several of these have already been instrumental and helped shape the program.

At this stage, one of our main priorities is to determine our parent Lead and Coordinator roles:
• Leads work with all coordinators within an area and communicate directly with the PPP Lead
• Coordinators support hourly volunteers and serve as the main point of contact for their specific role

If you are interested in applying for one of these roles, please complete the Google Form below:

Selections for Lead and Coordinator positions will be made and families notified before the OnVolunteers.com sign-ups open.

For other volunteer roles, sign-ups will open in late March / early April, with a staggered release to ensure a smooth and fair process:

  • Day 1: Current Grade 11 & 10 families
  • Day 2: Current Grade 9 & 8 families
  • Day 3: Incoming Grade 8 families

Each family will receive their own login details prior to their designated release date.

All final dates will be confirmed and shared by the end of Spring Break.

If you have any questions, please contact Kyle at  or 604.790.0677.

Thank you for helping strengthen our community through your involvement.

Euclid Math Contest

Written annually by over 25 000 participants worldwide, the Euclid Contest gives senior-level secondary school students the opportunity to solve innovative problems using their creativity and all of the knowledge they have gained in secondary school mathematics.

The Contest’s mix of short-answer and full-solution questions provides participants with an opportunity to effectively communicate their thinking. Additionally, the final questions in the Euclid are some of the most complex and challenging among all our contests, helping participants build perseverance, a key component of mathematical problem-solving.

The Euclid Contest (Pre-Calculus 12 and/or Calculus 12) will take place on Tuesday, March 31, from 8:30 am to 11:00 am in the library.

Please sign up by February 27 using this link: https://tinyurl.com/5epfe9wc

Upcoming Grade Level Retreats

Over the next month, St. Thomas More Collegiate is blessed to host three grade-level retreats, each intentionally connected to the Religion curriculum and designed to support the spiritual growth of our students.

Grade 9 Retreat
“Called to Relationship”
Monday, April 13 & Tuesday, April 14
Burnaby Hall

Our Grade 9 students will focus on developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to their Religion 9 course and their transition into high school life.

Missionaries from NET Canada will lead key portions of the retreat through dynamic talks, music, witness stories, and small group discussions. Students will be invited to reflect on who Jesus is, how He calls each of them personally, and how faith can guide them in their friendships, decisions, and daily lives.

Grade 11 Retreat
Servant Leadership & Community
April 16–17 (Overnight)
Camp Charis

Our Grade 11 students will travel to Camp Charis for an overnight retreat centered on servant leadership and community — themes that align closely with their growing role as senior leaders within the school.

Through team-building activities, prayer, reflection, and leadership formation sessions, students will explore what it means to lead as Christ led: with humility, courage, sacrifice, and service. As they prepare to become Grade 12 leaders next year, this retreat challenges them to reflect on how they can contribute positively to the culture of STMC.

We ask for your prayers for our students and staff as they prepare for these meaningful experiences.

“Jesus, live in our hearts forever.”

Gauss Math Contests

The Gauss Contest is organized by the University of Waterloo.

Intriguing problems and a multiple-choice format make the Gauss contests a wonderful opportunity for all participants to grow their interest in and curiosity about the power of math.

No sign-up is required. All Grade 8 students will write the contest during a math class on a date between May 11–22 selected by their math teacher.
